The Purpose of Prayer

Purpose: Praying, aligning to the will of God

1. For God’s Will to Become Our Will (Matthew 6:10; 26:42; Luke 22:39-44)

If Jesus our God and Savior prayed for the Father’s                  will to be done, how much more should we His
              sheep pray this same way!

2. For God’s Glory and Our Missional Unity (John 17)

• Glory (vv. 1, 4-5, 10, 22, 24)
• Eternal Life (vv. 2-3)
• God’s Word (vv. 14-19)
• Unity (vv. 20-23)
• So that the world may know (v. 23)

3. For Our Place in the Advance of the Gospel (Colossians 4:2-4)

God did not just save us from our sin, He saved us
               for His mission.

Pray in His will in your life and in our church, for His
              will to be done.

Then live in faith and obedience to His will!
