The Power of Gospel Conversion
Galatians 1:13-24 (NASB)
Purpose: Because of the gospel’s uniqueness, we receive it as the absolute truth of God.
1. A Wolf Turned Into a Sheep (Gal 1:13-14)
See Philippians 3:2-6
Because the gospel is independent of Paul’s upbringing, we are NOT following tradition.
2. Set Apart by God Before Birth (Gal 1:15-17)
God: 1. Set Paul apart, 2. Called Paul,
3. Revealed His Son in Paul
Paul: 1. Did not consult men, 2. did not go to
Jerusalem, 3. went to Arabia & Damascus
proclaiming the gospel (See Acts 9:27)
Because the gospel is independent of human authority, we receive it as God’s absolute truth.
3. Apostolic Affirmation (Gal 1:18-20)
Jerusalem Apostles give Paul & Barnabas “the right
hand of fellowship” (Gal 2:9)
Because Paul’s gospel was independently verified, we have multiple testimonies to the same exact truth!
4. Glorifying God for the Persecutor’s Conversion (Gal 1:21-24)
How can you glorify God in your life?
Because God’s power converts persecutors, we marvel at God’s choice of Paul to give us the gospel.
