The Heart of the Gospel . . . Salvation by Faith!
Galatians 2:11-18 (NASB)
Purpose: to find our full acceptance before God by faith in Jesus Christ, not our works.
1. Don’t be led astray by human error! (Gal 2:11-13)
2. The true gospel unites believers unconditionally!
(Gal 2:14)
3. No one has ever been guiltless by their good works.
(Gal 2:15, 17-18)
“Justified” is the word for salvation employed by Paul here.
Justification is being made righteous by God in Christ.
Justification is God’s forgiveness of our sins in Christ by grace through faith.
4. People are only guiltless before God by faith in
Jesus Christ (Gal 2:16)
God saves sinners
The basis of justification is Christ’s merit, not our works
Justification is the full satisfaction of God’s perfect Law
Justification must be imputed, it is given by God and received by man
The heart of the Law-free gospel is justification by faith
What about the Law? It’s only a gauge, can never save
