“Living by Faith in Christ”
Galatians 2:19-21 (NASB)
- To Live to God, We Must Die to the Law (Gal 2:19)
How do we relate to the Law as Christians?
See Romans 7:1-4; Matthew 16:25; Mark 8:35; Luke 9:24
Christianity is the absolute absence of any human religion!
- To Live to God, We Must Die to Self! (Gal 2:20a)
a. How do we understand “crucified”?
Galatians 5:24, Galatians 6:14
“Union with Christ is nothing if it is not union with Christ in His death.” - J.D.G. Dunn
We must live the crucified life!
b. “Christ lives in me . . .”
John 14:16, John 14:23, 2 Corinthians 13:5?
- To Live to God, We Must Live by Faith in Jesus Christ! (Gal 2:20b)
We “live by faith” (2 Cor. 5:6ff);
In whom? The Son of God! (Eph. 2:14ff; Rom. 8:9ff).
What did the Son of God do?
Loved me
Delivered Himself up for me (John 10:14ff).
- To Live to God, We Trust Jesus, Not Ourselves (Gal 2:21)
“nullify” = Make Invalid
“righteousness” = God putting man in right relationship, justification
“needlessly” = without cause or for no reason
One must either accept God’s offer of salvation in Jesus Christ, or he rejects Him.
