The Peace Treaty Signed in the King’s Blood!
Ephesians 2:14-18
Purpose: to be at peace with God in the body of Christ
1. The Person of Peace
Ephesians 2:14 For He Himself is our peace, who made both groups into one
When you are looking for peace you are looking for a person, Jesus Christ
Who are “both groups”? Jews and Gentiles
2. The Provision of Peace
Ephesians 2:14 and broke down the barrier of the dividing wall, 15 by abolishing in His flesh the enmity, which is the Law of commandments contained in ordinances, so that in Himself He might make the two into one new man, thus establishing peace,
Who broke down the barrier? Christ, by abolishing in His flesh the Law
“So that” peace was made “in Himself”
3. The Price of Peace
Ephesians 2:16 and might reconcile them both in one body to God through the cross, by it having put to death the enmity.
Two outcomes: 1) The two are reconciled to God and 2) they are one body
How was this all done? through the cross
In Christ the enemy is dead!
4. Peace Proclaimed to All
Ephesians 2:17 AND HE CAME AND PREACHED PEACE TO YOU WHO WERE FAR AWAY, AND PEACE TO THOSE WHO WERE NEAR;
OT prophesy fulfilled - see Is. 57:19. In Isaiah, who does the work? the LORD
5. Peace Leads to Corporate Praise
Ephesians 2:18 for through Him we both have our access in one Spirit to the Father.
How do all peoples have access to the Father? Through Jesus Christ In one Spirit
This is peace between God and man, which brings peace between man and man
